It is possible to create pretty nice polyhedra using isosurfaces and
sigmoind functions.
I will post source to pov.binaries.scene_files.
Attached are some examples of dodcahedral symmetry applied.
Anyway, the source is heavily commented, hope its comprehendable.

All images were created from the same source file but differ in the
threshold value (of the iso-surface)
isoDodca35 also differd of the rest both in camera position and in the
"contained_by" argument (its simply bigger than the rest)
the source posted will render isoDodca15.jpg (actually .bmp)
